Privacy Policy

Summary

Onchain Diary is a free educational website about blockchain security and on-chain analysis. No accounts, no sign-ups, no tools to install. You read articles and a glossary, and that's it.

We don't sell or share your information with anyone. Analytics that uses cookies runs only after you accept it via the consent banner — if you decline, no analytics cookies are ever set.

What We Collect

We process essentially nothing beyond standard web server logs:

• IP addresses — processed transiently by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) as part of standard HTTP request handling. We do not store IP addresses in any database.
• Aggregate, anonymous traffic data — page views, referrer URLs, browser type, and approximate country. None of this is linked to your identity.
• Your email address — only if you subscribe to the newsletter. Subscription uses double opt-in: nothing is stored as active until you click the confirmation link we email you. We store the address, its subscription status, and timestamps solely to send you new-guide emails. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe, which stops all future sends immediately. This is separate from the cookie consent banner — analytics cookies never activate without your explicit consent, and subscribing never enables them.

What We Do Not Collect

• No accounts or logins. The site requires no registration.
• No email addresses unless you voluntarily email us.
• No tracking cookies without consent. Cookie-based analytics stays off until you opt in, and never powers advertising.
• No browser fingerprinting.
• No wallet connections. We never ask you to connect a wallet.
• No personal data of any kind.

Analytics

We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. It records aggregate page views (URL path, referrer, browser type, approximate country) for our own understanding of which articles are useful. No IP addresses are stored, no user profiles are built, no cross-site tracking occurs. Because it is cookieless, Umami runs without asking for consent.

With your consent (the banner on your first visit), we additionally enable:

• Google Analytics — uses cookies (_ga) to collect anonymized usage data. It loads in a cookieless mode until you accept; after acceptance it sets its cookies. We never enable advertising features.
• Microsoft Clarity — anonymous session replay and heatmaps. It is not loaded at all until you accept; it sets its own cookies (_clck, _clsk) once active. Clarity masks all text inputs by default.

Declining sets nothing. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser (the choice is stored locally under the key ocd_consent) — the banner will reappear on your next visit.

Third-Party Services

Hosting: This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes IP addresses and request metadata as part of its standard CDN operation. Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Fonts: This site loads web fonts from Google Fonts. Google may collect request data (including IP address) to serve the fonts. Google Privacy Policy.

We do not share any data with advertising networks, social media platforms, or data brokers.

Your Rights

Because we don't maintain user accounts or store personal data tied to your identity, traditional data subject requests (access, deletion, correction) are not applicable. We simply don't have data about you.

This website is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top.
